Welcome

Saving Animals From Euthanasia (SAFE) was founded in the Pilbara in Western Australia by Sue Hedley in February 2003. Since then SAFE has developed branches and networks across the state - and we intend to extend SAFE’s services wherever there is need.

SAFE’s dedicated work has had a positive impact on people, pets and wildlife. SAFE’s innovative foster care program provides temporary care for animals until a permanent home is found. This means there are no cages or time lines on an animal’s life.

Your donation or bequest can ensure SAFE can continue its life saving work!

Our Vision

An end to the over-population of pets in Australia, zero euthanasia of rehomable pets, and a good quality of life for all companion animals.

Our Mission

>  To save homeless pets from unnecessary euthanasia by fostering, desexing and permanently rehoming them.

To reduce the overpopulation of pets by promoting responsible pet ownership and pet desexing.

SAFE would like to acknowledge and thank the Government of Western Australia for awarding us a 'Companion Animal Shelter Grant'. The grant is for $12,500 each year, for the next four financial years, from 2013 through 2017.  The funds will be distributed across all SAFE Branches, and used towards veterinary costs only. As veterinary costs are a major expenditure for SAFE, this assistance is greatly appreciated. This is the first time that State funding has been offered to the smaller, front-line organisations working to rehome companion animals, and SAFE is ecstatic to be included.
