A-mews-ing job for firefighters

It wasn't quite rescuing a cat stuck up a tree, but it was close.

When a Roberts Street resident heard the distinct sound of mewing coming from her ceiling, she was quick to contact Saving Animals From Euthanasia Kalgoorlie.

Determining something cute and furry was clearly having a bit of trouble, SAFE president Marita Holdaway got on the phone to Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s firefighters, who were only too happy to help out. They found two kittens stuck in the ceiling of the home, who were reportedly pleased to have some company.

“They were there within 15 minutes, five firefighters and two fire trucks to rescue some cute kittens – it was awesome,” Ms Holdaway said.

“They deserve a huge thank-you.”
